The Parents’ Association of Kilsheelan National School is a voluntary group made up of parents/guardians of children within the school. The main function of the Parents’ Association is fundraising, helping with school events and providing a vital link between the parents and the school.
Fundraising: Examples of some of the fundraising events the Parents’ Association have undertaken in the past are, table quizzes, raffles, cake sales, discos etc. All monies raised from these events go directly to benefit the children in the school to purchase additional necessary educational resources, not funded by the Department of Education.
The Parents’ Association have funded specific educational resources for the school including books, PE equipment and an iPad charging trolley. The Parents’ Association are currently in the process of raising funds a new playground for our school
Helping with School Events: The Parents’ Association provide refreshments during specific events throughout the year.
Providing a vital Link between the Parents and the Schools: The Parents’ Association hold regular meetings with the Principal attending at different times. This gives both the parents/guardians and the school a forum to exchange ideas and views relating to the school. We would actively encourage parents/guardians to become involved with the Parents Association. Being a member gives you a valuable opportunity to be part of your child’s school life and experience his/her school involvement at first hand. The work of the Parents’ Association is vital in ensuring a symbiotic and productive working relationship between the Parent Body and the school. An AGM of the Parents Association is usually held in September each year.
