Our School Crest

Picture
Explanation of Symbols on our School Crest
  • The first section illustrates the value we place in our local area with Slievenamon and Kilsheelan Bridge being represented, two very well known landmarks in our locality
  • The open book, scroll and cap symbolise the learning which has taken place in the school over many years and the great success that so many of our former students have gone on to achieve.
  • The football, sliotar, hurley and music symbol symbolise the great traditions of sport, music and song in the parish of Kilsheelan-Kilcash which we try to instill in the children.
  • The image of children at play, forming an unbroken circle symbolises friendship, cooperation and community, which is very important in our school and is very evident in our school community.
  • Beneath the crest is our school motto: “Mol an Óige is Tiocfaidh Sí” (Praise the Youth and they will Prosper). This is the basis for all the work that goes on in our school and something we aim to live by each day in school.
